about

I wrote this song when I was deep in the depths of facing up to myself and working through some big traumas. It was hard for me to feel close with anyone, even though I was so scared to be alone. I've been holding on to this song and to this version of myself for so long, not wanting be be seen or heard in this state. I've given that up. I love this song and I love the person who wrote it. I'm in a different place in life and I've healed a lot- but I will always have love and respect for this part of my life and what it taught me.

lyrics

I've got to kill this devastating feeling
that I'll never be quite there
that I never will discover
there's a bit in me
that can bare it's overlapping with another

I spent so much time just trying to recover
all I lost
I laid myself out on the threshing floor of love
I never dreamed of the way it haunts me
everytime I turn a corner

It makes sense
I know I look good on the outside
when I beg the world to love me and I bring it
so close to me
It makes sense
but I know that you can't see me
with my steely gaze, trembling underneath

Just leave like you found me
You're better off without me

I can't remember just how it got so easy
to be locked behind a smile while I
rip your world apart inside my mind
and I hate myself more and more for it every time

Still there's a dream to be swallowed up completely
by the tide of someone strong enough
to look me in the eye and let me die
and be there in their presence for awhile

It makes sense
I know you love me for my folly
and the noise and all the humming
I can't stop it when it's cumming
It makes sense
but can you look at me in silence
cause I'm terrified of what you might find
just

Leave me
Like you found me
You're better off without me
